The “Five Ugly Ones” is an endearing name given to a group of animals that are considered too ugly for even their mothers to love according to Mots, our Motswana guide here in the Okavango Delta. They are, in no particular “ugliness” order: the hyena, the warthog, the Marabou stork, any type of vulture, and the wildebeest. We have seen them all now except the hyena, who continues to remain elusive.
